Catching Up

Yeah, it’s been awhile.

Let’s start with my second race this year, the Christopher Cash 5K. Last year it was my first race, it was 90 degrees and it kicked my ass. This year it was in the 70’s and I felt great. I made it most of the way through running with my friend Sue(Lori had gotten ahead of us.) We got to the last big hill and she talked me into walking it. It didn’t take much to persuade me but in retrospect I wish I’d just pushed myself through it. I did sprint at the end and passed some guy, so I felt good about it. Finish time=33:31

The Sun!

Bleeding Hearts

It finally stopped raining, at least for today. I’d practically forgotten what the sun looked like. Got in a nice run(last one before the race on Saturday) and puttered around the house. Took pictures out in the yard. All the rain was getting a little depressing. At least we got a short break. Yay!

Spring!

Spring is finally on its way here. I have a 5K race on May 20th so I really need to run more-I’ve already been out a few times, so far the most I’ve run is 2 miles without stopping. I should be all set by May.

Unfortunate Chipmunk Incident

I was out in Portland and when I got back to my car I saw this tail sticking out from under my car. I immediately knew it was the chipmunk that lives (lived) under our front porch. I drove all the way home and made Joe come out and look at it with me. We opened the hood-he was just lying there on some part of my car-and I was able to push him off with a stick. It looked like he was just squished in the middle. I felt soooo bad. We had a moment of silence at the trash can, then sent him on his way. Poor little guy.

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

Where the deer and antelope play…

Here was something nice to come home to–5 of these guys in the yard across the street. It was only 4:00 PM!

Deer

More deer

What you can’t see are the cars zooming by at 40 mph. They finally ran off into the woods when someone turned into the driveway.

Crazy. That’s what they call me.

OK. A friend suggested it and I signed up for this.
Am I a runner, you ask? Why no, actually, I’m not. Does that help?
Last year my friend Sue ran it and I secretly wished I could too. I meant to set a goal to do it this year but just never got off my ass to start training. Last week Sue was talking about it and trying to get a few of us to sign up. Went home, had a couple of beers, and before I knew it I had signed up online. So there!
I have a training plan from coolrunning.com and have been out twice this week already. I really feel like I can do this, and I really don’t have much else going on right now. It feels good to have a goal, and I have to keep training or I’ll embarrass myself in front of 5000 people. That helps in the motivation department.
So we’ll see. I’ll keep you posted.

You Know You’re In Maine When…

you’re standing in line at Dunkin’ Donuts and the guy behind you asks for one of those Chee Tai? Tai Chi? things. (That’s chai to you and me.)
And also? It’s snowing again, which I am ignoring by making pot roast. Take that, Winter That Would Not End!

Fixed It!

Finally fixed that little bit of code. I also put the Gallery back up so I could post pictures. There’s a link on the sidebar or just click here.

Ack! Code!

Yes, I know there is a code error. Working on it…
